RPD: Dog shot by officer after attacking person on Ambrose Street — Ossining Community news

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say they shot a dog in the leg after it was attacking a person on the city s northwest side. Police say they responded to the area of Ambrose Street and North Plymouth Avenue for reports of several loose dogs attacking people. While investigating, police say two large breed dogs left a house on Ambrose Street and started attacking a pedestrian. They say they then fired one round, which hit one of the attacking dogs in the leg. The dogs then ran into a nearby house and were secured inside the house, police say. They say the victim was treated at the scene, and the dog shot was brought to the vet by its owner. Animal Services will be conducting a follow-up investigation, police say.
