Police: Rotterdam gun threat ends with man in crisis taken into custody — Ossining Health news

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (WNYT) — Rotterdam Police took a man into custody after investigators said he had threatened a family member and had access to weapons at his home. Police said Tuesday, Oct. 27, that officers received information about a man in crisis who had made threats of violence with a firearm toward a family member. Through their investigation, police confirmed he had access to weapons inside his residence. Rotterdam Police responded to the area near Guilderland Avenue for an evaluation, but police said the man would not come outside or answer his phone. Because of the nature of the call, police requested help from the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Department, Schenectady County Task Force, Schenectady County Drone Unit and several New York State Police units. After an extended period, police made contact with the man and took him into custody. Police said he was then transported for a mental health evaluation.
